Core courses and studio classes stress both production and criticism of art and the relationships between art and culture. Computers are integrated into the curriculum along with traditional art media.

Degree Options
All freshmen planning to major in art at Ball State must complete the  First-Year Foundation Program. Then students may pursue one of the degrees below and focus their studies in the program areas listed to the right.

• Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA): 126 credit hours, including 85 hours of studio courses and 41 hours of University Core Curriculum requirements and other electives.    View the BFA degree requirements.
   
• Bachelor of Arts (BA): 126 credit hours, including 55 hours of studio courses and 41 hours of University Core Curriculum requirements, a foreign language, and other electives. View the BA degree requirements.
   
• Bachelor of Science (BS): 132 credit hours, including 55 hours of art courses, 41 hours of University Core Curriculum requirements, and 36 hours of education requirements (degree is specialized for teacher education). View the BS all-grade teaching degree requirements.
