Aquatic Biology with emphasis on large river ecology, macroinvertebrates, phytoplankton, and their interactions with the environment.  Future research includes but not limited to: continuing to study the impact of tributaries on major river systems, such as the Ohio River, by determining interactions between species; exploring the role of cyanobacteria in the spread of antibiotic resistance; to examine the effects of navigational dams on the ecology of large rivers.
 
Currect projects: deterimining factors associated with the distribution of zebra mussel populations in the Ohio River; role of microbiological (algae and/or bacteria) food sources on the recruitment of freshwater mussel juveniles.
