FACULTY ABSENCES
Faculty members planning to be absent should use the following procedures:
- Complete a gold Faculty Absence Report form as soon as possible, indicating the date(s) and time(s) of the absence, and plans for class coverage (a substitute teacher or coverage by another faculty member). If the substitute is to be paid from a grant, that grant number should be listed in Section #2.
- Prior to the scheduled absence, bring lesson plans to the main office, leave in your classroom, or indicate where the plans and any necessary materials will be located. Substitutes are not given the keys to faculty offices.
It is recommended that you have a substitute folder on file (or in your classroom) with Ms. Orr in the main office in case of an emergency. This folder should include the following items:
- Class schedules
- Class lists
- Classroom expectations and rules
- Emergency lesson plans
- Emergency procedures
Faculty members calling in due to an illness or emergency should use the following procedures:
Contact Elaine as soon as possible. If you do not know during the school day, please call the SUBLINE – 285-4782 (285-4SUB). It is preferred to know the night before, if possible, or by 6:30 a.m., at the latest. If you are unable to call before 6:30 a.m., you must call the office at 285-1131 after 7:30 a.m. when the office opens. Remember to indicate where your plans will be located. You may use the FAX (285-8620), e-mail Elaine (eorr@bsu.edu) and at least one of the other office staff (bkcampbell@bsu.edu), (njones@bsu.edu), (nmclaren@bsu.edu), or send the plans to school with another person (spouse, child, etc).
