Giving to CAP

Guillermo Vasquez de Velasco

A Message from Guillermo Vasquez De Velasco, Dean

For nearly 40 years, Ball State University's College of Architecture and Planning has helped its students initiate professional careers and enter society as educated citizens. The professional leadership CAP graduates have taken in our disciplines has led to substantial improvements of the built environment in our state, region, nation, and places around the world. This is a legacy of which we are very proud and of which you are an important part.

Through the years the state of Indiana has served as the principal provider of CAP's resources, but as the enormous challenges of sustaining this legacy present themselves, we broaden our request for aid. To make a great college even better, we call upon graduates, stakeholders, and beneficiaries to help us meet the myriad challenges for which we have resource needs that could substantially improve our programs and better prepare graduates.

We seek to better assist our deserving and talented students. We seek to enhance the college with new equipment that graduates will be called upon to use proficiently, with better design space upgraded to be exemplary and to help us teach and learn more effectively, with the best available personnel, and with regular visits of professional leaders. We all have a role to play in assisting the next generation of graduates and eventual professional leaders in architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, historic preservation, and related careers. Your assistance in these efforts is deeply appreciated.

How You Can Help

Private support may come in the form of personal gifts, gifts through companies, stock transfers, and memorial remembrances. Specifically, CAP needs private gifts to:

  • Support CAP student enrichment activities
  • Bring practitioners to campus to interact with students and faculty
  • Maintain up-to-date classroom instruction from faculty working closely with successful practitioners
  • Utilize the CAP building as a live working and teaching laboratory that demonstrates current design principles
  • Support operations at the CAP Indianapolis Center, a new urban presence to benefit students, practicing professionals, and community organizations in Indiana's capital city
  • Establish new scholarship funds to support promising students

You may contribute to the CAP General Fund or one of the college's four disciplines. Learn more about giving to Ball State.
