Each year the Clinical Exercise Physiology Program sponsors a professional lecture to honor the Program's Founder - Dr. Leroy 'Bud' Getchell.

Dr. Getchell was hired at Ball State in 1965 and worked closely with Dr. Dave Costill in the growth of the Human Performance Laboratory.

Dr. Getchell was one of the primary academic scholars that developed the implementation of Physical Fitness Programs in the United States.
