Announcements:
I The new officers made their introductions to the BSNA members.
II BSU Preview Day
a April 14 in Worthern Arena and April 19 in Pruis Hall

C Rachel Hemmelgarn and Meredith Bennett volunteered for April 14
III Since February is Black History Month, volunteers are needed to help put
black nurses' pictures in the display in the Cooper building. Those
interested should email Carol or the one of the officers.
IV Carol discussed the BSNA website that is accessible through the BSU
website.
V Next, Carol, Angela, and Abby discussed the upcoming National and
State Conferences.
a The national conference is at the end of March.
b It will be held in Grapevine, TX and will cost approximately $500 per
person.
c As of right now, members wanting to attend should plan to pay their own
way.
d The state conference is February 8-10 in Indianapolis.
e The state conference costs $45 to attend and the keynote speaker will be
Angela Barron-speaking on careers.
VI Fundraising ideas like the Alumni Clothing Drive and candy bar sales were discussed.
a According to Angela, the candy bars cost $105 a box and include 180 bars
per box. They cost 58 cents a bar and we would sell them at least $1
apiece. According to the company, we could make at least $76 per box.
Volunteers will be needed to help sell candy bars at the Atrium also.
VII Various members discussed ideas to do something for the Seniors that
could become tradition. Some ideas were a t-shirt or cords.
VIII Volunteers are needed for Activity Day with the ROTC, which will be in
April. Abby and Jill will work on receiving approved funds for the event.
Carol will work on getting a flight nurse to come with a helicopter and
ambulance to set up. A blood drive was also discussed as something to
set up on Activity Day.
IX Carol discussed the National Students Nursing Association website:
www.nsna.org. It costs $50 to join. Benefits include journals by mail,
NCLEX material, and discounts on books and stores.
X Abby and Jill answered various questions from members, including
questions about job offers and the board exam.
XI Carol mentioned the help provided by nursing tutors available in the Learning Center.
