Announcements/Events:
Due to February being Black History Month, two presentations were given.
I Master Sergeant Yvette Smith of the Air Force gave a presentation and discussed her career and the many benefits of joining the Air Force. She also discussed the different tracks of nursing in the Air Force, including the Executive and Clinical track and Nursing Education.
II The Air Force provided lunch from Fazolis.
III In honor of February being Black History Month, Edna Isihoro, RN, MSN, NEI, AHEC, and IPEW gave a presentation about successful black women in nursing. She also provided information about the number of black nurses currently working and pointed out the need to encourage black women to become nurses. Throughout the presentation, Mrs. Isihoro discussed several black women and their importance. Some of the women include Adah Balle Samuels Thomas, M Elizabeth Carnegie, Wilma Brakefield Caldwell, Gladys B Dillard, Dell Goodwin, Sojourner Truth, and Harriet Tubman, among many other women.
