Applicants must meet the admission requirements of the Graduate School . These requirements are available online at http://cms.bsu.edu/AdmissionsLanding/GraduateAdmissions.aspx.
Currently the DNP Program is only accepting applications from advanced practice nurses (nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists) who have an earned master's degree in nursing.
Applicants must:
- Have graduated from a National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited master's program in nursing with a minimum grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
- Have acceptable scores (within past 5 years) on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
- Have completed a graduate level statistics course and nursing research course.
- Have completed a graduate level health assessment course.
- Have an unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the state of practice.
- Have recent clinical nursing experience.
- Meet all health clearance, criminal background checks, and other requirements for clinical practice.
- The Admission and Progression Committee will review all application materials and a phone interview will be conducted prior to determination of acceptance in the program.
The number of applicants admitted to the DNP program will be limited. Meeting the minimum admission criteria does not ensure that an applicant will be admitted to the program.
Computer skills are required. Students who have not taken distance education courses at BSU are encouraged to take NUR 605: Nursing Information Technology as an elective prior to starting other courses. Specifications for computers will be provided.
