How do I add and format an image in Sitecore?

The "add an image icon" gives you the ability to add an image from your media library to the body copy, or to upload an image into your media library.

NOTE:  Before adding an image to your page, you must first resize the image in a photo editing application, then upload the image into the Sitecore Media Library.  

To Add an image to a page that is already in the Media Library:

1.  Place the cursor where you want the image inserted on the page.

2.  Click the Insert Sitecore Media Icon.

3.  Find the image you want to use from the Sitecore media library.

4.  Click the item to select it.

5.  Click Insert.

To add an image to a page that you want to upload from your computer: 

1.  Place the cursor where you want the image inserted on the page.

2.  Click the Insert Sitecore Media Icon.

3.  This step is VERY IMPORTANTNavigate to the FOLDER where the image will be uploaded.

4.  Browse for the image.  Remember you MUST resize the image BEFORE you upload.

5.  Type in the Alternate Text:  This is very important information for a person who is visually challenged and is using a screen reader.  Type in sentence format.

6.  Don't change the width or height!

7.  Click Insert.

 

To format the image on the page:

1.  Click on the image to select it.

2.  Right mouse click (Control + Click for Mac) on the image and select Set Image Properties.

3.  Border:  If you want a Border around the image, type in a number for Border Width.

4.  Border Color: If you selected border, choose Border Color.

5.  *Image Alt Text:  This is very important information for a person who is visually challenged and is using a screen reader.  Type in sentence format.

6.  Image Src:  Don't change this information!

7.  Image Alignment:  Click one of the icons to align image with text.

8.  Horizontal Spacing and Vertical Spacing: Change where the image in placed in the body copy.

9.  Width and Height: To change the dimensions of the image.  You should have already done this!  Never make the image larger because the image will become distorted.

10.  Click OK.
