Ball State University's Working Well Health Enhancement Program had "Ten Tasty Ways to Color Your Holidays Healthy" on Wednesday in the Applied Technology Building. The free seminar focused on staying fit during the holiday season. Valerie Amend, who provides nutrition counseling and health screenings at the Amelia T. Wood Health Center, led the talk. She gave the audience tips on how to add nutritious food in their diets and stay in shape, despite the amount of unhealthy food and drinks and number of parties the holidays are known for. The Working Well program is aimed at Ball State faculty and staff, but students were welcome at the event. Kent Bullis, medical director at the Health Center, said students' biggest problem with staying slim during the holidays is a dramatic change in circumstance after the end of the semester. "You've got students studing hard, then all of a sudden they don't have a schedule, there's all this unstructured time, and when that happens it's difficult to excercise regularly and eat a healthy amount."
