Child Study Center
General - Diversity/Special Needs

How Does The Child Study Center Meet My Child's Special Needs?

You are to complete a "Children with Special Needs form" (see "What information should I supply about my child"; in enrollment forms) describing special needs your child may have.  If your child has an Individual Education Plan (IEP) or an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP), please provide this documentation.  A copy is required to be kept on file at the center to enable the staff to work together on your child's special needs goals.

How Is the Anti-Bias Curriculum Implemented At The Child Study Center?
(Special Occasions, Birthdays, and More)

The Child Study Center incorporates anti-bias curriculum into the program's units.  Similarities and differences are discussed and integrated through theme activities.  The Center provides learning equipment and materials that reflect diversity such as, dolls, paper and paints, books and pictures.

Families may discuss special family traditions they traditionally celebrate at home, along with any holidays that the family does NOT celebrate.  Birthdays can be celebrated at the Center according to the family's wishes.  Please provide your teacher two weeks advance notice if you would like to bring in a special treat for your child's birthday.  All food items must be from approved food sources only.  Food prepared in a home kitchen cannot be used.  Food must be received at the Center in the original, unopened package.
