A Lafayette-area candidate for the Indiana House of Representatives plans to live for a month on the same amount of money as a Hoosier receiving unemployment.  District 26 candidate Democrat Paul Roales says $390 a week is the maximum benefit payment… but it’s less than one third of his current weekly salary.

Roales on Unemployment Benefits

Roales says he wants to bring attention to the state’s unemployment insurance fund problem.  Indiana borrowed more than $1 billion during the recession to pay Hoosier unemployment claims.   Roales is challenging District 26 incumbent Republican Randy Truitt in November.  The House district covers parts of Tippecanoe and Warren counties.
