Stores, Gas Stations Busy as Storm Approaches

Parking lots of gas stations, grocery, and hardware stores in Muncie were more populated than usual, this (Mon.) evening as the area is under a Winter Storm Warning. Just before snow started to fall around 6 p.m., four gas stations on the city’s northwest side had lines of motorists waiting to fill up their cars. Steady lines of cars and shoppers, resembling post-Thanksgiving Day holiday shopping, were noticed outside of Marsh and Wal-Mart, Lowes hardware and Rural King. Typical of purchases were essentials, including batteries and lanterns. One Muncie battery store clerk said his store had one lantern left, and had only boxes of D-size flashlight batteries remaining, and those were dwindling.
