StateImpact: Dropouts

Teams of volunteers and school employees are combing the neighborhoods of Indianapolis this summer trying to convince students who have left the public schools to come back.  It’s the second year of Indianapolis Public Schools effort to lure back students who failed to graduate in the district with the state’s biggest dropout problem.  But as StateImpact Indiana’s Kyle Stokes reports, the state takeovers of four district schools are complicating the team’s sales pitch.
