The Tipton County Board of Zoning Appeals has approved the plans for the Prairie Breeze Wind Farm, as long as the company makes a few changes. Juwi Wind’s application for a zoning variance was approved last night after an eight-hour meeting. Tipton County Planning Commissioner Steve Edson says to build the wind farm, each wind turbine must be at least 15-hundred feet from property lines. That’s 500 feet more than previously planned. Edson says juwi Wind must also provide a property value guarantee. This means if property owners can’t sell their home for what it’s worth after the turbines go up, the wind company will pay the difference. Edson says juwi Wind must approve these conditions before starting construction.
