			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Indiana education officials will soon re-write the formula state leaders use to assign letter grade ratings to schools — again. Barely a year ago, the State Board of Education approved new rules for identifying the best- and worst-performing schools in Indiana. Now, the General Assembly has given state officials until November to try again. Among the groups hoping to add their input during the state’s re-write process:  an AP Statistics class at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis. They asked StateImpact Indiana’s Kyle Stokes to help them get started.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Three years ago, Indiana was one of the first states to sign on to new academic standards known as the Common Core.  Now it could be the first state to pull out after legislation pausing implementation of the nationally-crafted standards passed the General Assembly.  But as Common Core opponents celebrated an improbable, last-minute victory, teachers questioned how taking a timeout will affect schools already adopting the new standards. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Indiana Department of Education has released results of the statewide third grade reading exam. StateImpact Indiana’s Elle Moxley reports.</p>
<p>In Muncie Community Schools, about 77 percent of third graders passed the I-READ exam.  This is the same percentage as last year.  In Anderson Community School Corporation, 71 percent of third graders passed the reading exam.  This is a nine-percent drop from last year.  In Indianapolis, 66 percent of students in the state’s largest school corporation passed the I-READ 3.</p>
