StateImpact Indiana: Bus Service

by IPR News

December 8, 2011

A growing number of Indiana school districts could be forced to cut free busing service within the next two years — but they may need to get the blessing of the state’s legal system first.  A parent in Franklin Township sued her district over its last-ditch effort to balance its budget by completely cutting its bus service.  That means districts considering the same cuts are stuck, waiting for the courts to make a decision.  StateImpact Indiana’s Kyle Stokes hopped on a bus in one such district – Mount Vernon Community Schools, just east of Indianapolis.
