Michael Martin, apart from being a long-time friend of The Scene and patron of the arts in Muncie, is the creative force behind the Michael Martin Band — a gritty Americana group with with Irish folk and country influences. Their high energy performances, two of which are captured here, is the driving force behind a repertoire of originals and familiar covers, all performed with authenticity and roots-based soul.

From Joel Levi’s website:

Joel Levi is an energetic and engaging singer-songwriter from Anderson, IN. Joel’s music is a dense pitch of Rock, Folk, Indie and Americana sounds. Contrary to most solo performers, Levi primarily performs as frontman of his band, all the while maintaining the dynamic spectrum of his music, both sonically and emotionally. Levi recorded his first effort, “The Little Places” by invitation at the studio of Grammy award-winning producer and song-writer Charlie Peacock. He is currently supporting his latest EP “Middle of Everywhere.”

“Gypsy Revival has worked hard to develop an original sound to set them apart from other acts. The band thoroughly enjoys the thrill of live performances, and its no wonder that they put on one of the most energetic shows around.”

“Root Hog’s sound can best be defined as ‘Cosmic Americana’, a term coined to represent key elements of American roots music forms and psychedelic rock & roll twisted together and packaged in a no-frills and honest manner. The band is dedicated to reviving live, original music for everyone giving their audiences a ‘feel-good’ vibe that tingles from your head to your toes and brings a smile to your face.”
