
Music Application
All applicants are asked to fill out and submit a School of Music Audition Request Form. Additionally:
- Music education students also must submit a Music Education Admission Form.
- If you plan to pursue Music Technology as your major degree, please complete a Music Technology Student Information Sheet and send it along with your application.
- Voice students also must submit a Voice Audition Form.
These can be printed out and sent to Ms. Tricia Walter, Secretary to the Coordinator, Undergraduate Programs in Music, School of Music, Ball State University, Muncie, IN 47306. You may also request printed materials.
Performance Audition
Music students must demonstrate proficiency in one or more of the following: keyboard, symphonic instruments (strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion), guitar, voice, or harp. Learn more about undergraduate auditions for admission.
Music Theory Exam
Prepare to take a theory test that includes pitch identification, scales (major, harmonic minor, melodic minor, natural minor), key signatures (major and their relative minor), intervals (identify and notate), rests, note-values, and simple melodic notation.
Recommendation Letter
Be sure to have our Recommendation Letter Form filled in by someone in the music profession (band director, choral director, or private teacher).
University Application
