John J. Pruis Hallis a seven-hundred-seat multipurpose hall that was completed in 1972. The building itself is an unusual blend of curved and angular walls and free-standing supports. It is a two-story structure of Indiana limestone and cement with a well-lighted glass foyer. The hall was named after John J Pruis, the University's president from 1968-1978. Pruis Hall fulfilled Ball State's need for an intermediate-sized hall for the performing arts. Each year the School of Music schedules more than two hundred faculty and student concerts and recitals in the building in addition to rehearsals and performances by large ensembles. Pruis also accommodates large lecture classes for various academic disciplines and is used for conferences, clinics, workshops, film showings, lectures and faculty meetings.
