Ball State University student Mike Kostyo has been named the recipient of the 2005 Student Patriot Award given annually by the Indiana Civil Liberties Union (ICLU).
Kostyo, a senior majoring in journalism from Dyer and president of Ball State's American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) chapter, will receive the award Oct. 15 during the ICLU's annual convention in Indianapolis.
By Marc Ransford, Media Relations ManagerThe award is given to college students working to preserve the Bill of Rights. Kostyo is being honored for his work with Ball State's ACLU chapter, including organizing events, making alliances with other groups and recruiting members.
The ICLU, Indiana affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), is dedicated to protecting the freedoms guaranteed to Indiana residents and businesses by the state and American constitutions.
