The Ball State Museum of Art, Muncie Children's Museum, Minnetrista and the National Model Aviation Museum invite teachers, school administrators, professors, parent volunteers, daycare providers and any other educators to attend the "Educators' Evening Open House and Museum Showcase," hosted by the Ball State Museum of Art.
The event, modeled after the Smithsonian Institution's "Teachers' Night," is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. March 17. It will feature free educational resources, tote bags for the first 200 guests, tours, technology demonstrations, sample classroom activities, door prizes, live entertainment and complimentary refreshments.
This partnership of museums will provide the opportunity to demonstrate the educational value of area museums and their role as community resources to Indiana educators from prekindergarten to 12th grade.
"Too often, educators do not have a firsthand opportunity to learn what museums can do to enhance student learning," said Peter Blume, Ball State museum director. "With the first 'Educators' Evening Open House and Museum Showcase,' we are delighted to partner with area museums to show that these institutions help further critical thinking for student success."
