The CEC is a cross-disciplinary effort involving the departments of English, music technology, telecommunications and theatre and dance. This immersive experience gives students an opportunity to produce short films, DVDs and other interactive media. This year 130 students created 24 short films that were chosen from 40 screenplays, involving more than 1,000 student work hours.
CEC projects are produced by the College of Fine Arts; the College of Communication, Information and Media; and the College of Sciences and Humanities and sponsored by the Center for Media Design's Institute for Digital Entertainment and Education (IDEE).
The institute will allow students to showcase their award-winning talents on a daily basis to up-and-coming filmmakers while building professional and artistic relationships that may grow as the students and filmmakers progress in their careers. The institute will be an interdisciplinary environment that will be one of several immersive-learning centers on campus established as part of the Digital Exchange, the $20 million digital media initiative funded by Lilly Endowment Inc. that is helping Ball State build one of the most technologically advanced digital educational environments in the nation.
The event is free and open to the public. There will be a reception immediately following the screening.
