Ball State's Alumni Center, 2800 W. Bethel Ave. , will be the site of the Purdue Technology Roadshow May 24. Breakfast will begin at 8:15, and the program will run from 9 a.m. to noon.
The event, hosted by Energize-ECI and sponsored by First Merchants Corporation and Mutual Federal Savings Bank, will showcase promising new innovations to potential investors and entrepreneurs.
The program is presented by the Purdue Research Foundation's Office of Technology Commercialization and is an effort to demonstrate the potential commercial applications of the new technologies on display.
Larry Cox, director of the Midwest Entrepreneurial Education Center and associate professor of management at Ball State, will serve as moderator during the conference.
Technologies proposed for the conference include:
- Novel polymer coatings — These two advanced coating materials exhibit unique characteristics that make them desirable for a number of biomaterial and industrial applications. One is notable for its antibacterial properties, while the other can be tailored due to its adhesion strength.
- Electronically actuated continuously variable transmission (CVT) — As automobile manufacturers focus on ways to decrease fuel consumption and emissions, CVT's are gaining popularity and acceptance with both the industry and consumers. These innovative designs offer cost-effective and mechanically simple improvements in CVT technology.
- Agri-Processing Services, LLC — This start-up company is using Purdue technology to reclaim and reuse by-products from the food processing industry.
- Shift-Bike — This invention won first prize in the 2005 International Bicycle Design Competition and was featured in Time Magazine as one of "The Most Amazing Inventions of 2005."
The event is free, but registration is required. To register or for more information contact Marlene Pulley at (765) 254-1420 or mpulley@energize-eci.org.
