A scholarship program to assist student journalists at Ball State has been endowed by former professor David Knott.
The David L. Knott Daily News Editors Scholarship has been created from a gift by the donor, who was a journalism professor and a faculty adviser for the Ball State Daily News for 23 years. The fund will provide financial assistance each year to a member of the campus newspaper.
A Muncie resident, Knott is a member of the College Media Advisers (CMA) Hall of Fame, a past president of CMA and was the executive director of the Indiana Collegiate Press Association for 16 years. He was a recipient of the Gold Key Award of the Columbia Scholastic Press Association and was named a Sagamore of the Wabash in 1999.
