The College of Communication, Information, and Media and Freshman Connections are hosting the Celebration of Chinese Cinema at Ball State.
The films will be shown at 7 p.m. Nov. 5-7 in Pruis Hall and are free and open to the public. The films are in Chinese with English subtitles.
- Nov. 5, "A Kid's Kite" — This story takes place during World War II in a small village dominated by the Japanese. Through the eyes of a little boy whose kite constantly flies over the Japanese compound, viewers see the savagery and complex political upheaval during the war.
- Nov. 6, "Heroes Returning to the East" — This is a thrilling adventure filled with action and stunning visual imagery as 200,000 Mongolians cross China's western prairies.
- Nov. 7, "Ice Speed" — This story was based on Olympic champion Deng Ling, a young athlete on the national ice skating team who hurt her knee in training. The support from her coach and a deep inner strength propel her through the competition despite the pain.
