A $3,000 scholarship gift will assist in recruiting new and outstanding students to Ball State.

O. Oren and Mary Ann Olinger of Yorktown established the fund in memory of her parents, Cecil and Virginia, and to honor their belief in higher education.

Virginia Fisher was born in Shelbyville, where she continued to live until she moved to Muncie in 2001. Cecil Fisher was born in Fairland and lived his entire life in Shelby County. After high school he attended DePauw University.

Both were active members in their community, including attending Old Union Methodist Church in Shelby County.
