Burris Laboratory School on the Ball State campus is offering summer enrichment workshops from June 4-15. The cost of each workshop is $85.

Workshops will be from 12:30 to 3 p.m. weekdays and will include:

  • Scrapbooking – grades 6-8. Students will receive step-by-step instruction for creating a scrapbook using tools and scrapbook embellishments. Each student will bring photographs and a scrapbook photo album. Additional materials included in the supply fee include a trimmer, photo mounting tape and an archival pen. Supply cost is $30.
  • Movie Production — grades 6-8. Students will use iMovie to create a project relating to a topic of their interest and iTunes and Garage Band software to add music and sounds to their projects. Students will use iDvd to complete professional looking projects.
  • Fun and Fitness – grades 6-8. Using the Burris gym, weight room and outside play yards, students will play sports and team games to promote fitness. Students will monitor their daily activity levels and diet during the class and will receive a wellness profile at the end of the two weeks.
  • Clay Creations and Kid Pix — grades 2-4. Using clay techniques, students will create several ceramic pieces. They also will take a field trip to the Ball State Museum of Art to see examples of ceramics from different times and cultures. Students will use Kid Pix software to make slide shows about their ceramic pieces.

In addition, one enrichment class will be June 18-29. In elementary Spanish, students in grades 3-5, will learn Spanish greetings, numbers, colors, days and months, body parts, conversational courtesies and vocabulary associated with families, school and animals.
