Juggling and laser show to light up Emens and children's faces (1/24/2003)
MUNCIE, Ind. - Lazer Vaudeville, an innovative combination of classic-style jugglers, rope-spinning cowboys and fantastic creatures enhanced with blacklight and colorful laser effects will provide an afternoon of amusement for younger audiences at 3 p.m. Feb. 1 in Ball State University's Emens Auditorium.

Alfonzo, a fluorescent seven-foot-tall dragon, will serve as the master of ceremonies and will be accompanied by Merlin, a laser-wielding magician. The two fairy-tale characters will be surrounded by a fiber-optic scene of a moonlit castle and will introduce acts involving hoop rolling, plate-spinning and juggling everything from running chainsaws to cigar boxes. The pair will even invite young audience members up on stage to be a part of the show.

Lazer Vaudeville was founded in 1987 by juggler Carter Brown, who toured with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Joining Brown is Cindy Marvell, the first woman to win the solo championship of the International Juggler's Association, and Jeffrey Daymont, people's choice award winner at the International Jugglers Festival.

The show recently performed at the Smithsonian Institute and has been featured in two PBS specials.

Tickets are available 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Emens Auditorium Box Office, Monday through Friday and two hours before the show and at all Ticketmaster locations or charge-by-phone at (765) 644-3131. The box office can be reached at (765) 285-1539, toll free at (877) 99-EMENS or at www.bsu.edu/emens.
