Graham Kerr, world-renowned chef and TV personality, was honored as the 2009 John P. McGovern Award winner. Kerr spoke at the McGovern Lecture, with his message entitled "Food as Medicine."
Kerr arrived on campus on April 29, 2009, with a reception in the department of Physiology and Health Science. He also visited with the reisdents and nurses at the Family Pratice Center with Dr. Bill Bock, professor of the department.
Following the annual McGovern Dinner held in the Alumni Center, Kerr spoke to a crowd of over 350 people about Food as Medicine. Kerr also toured the Ball State campus, and met with representatives of WIPB and Indiana Public Radio.
The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences hosted the From Farm to Table Dinner, honoring Graham as their special guest. Students prepared a dinner using recipes from the Kerr Recipe Collection and served the dishes at Allegre, the teaching restaurant located on the Ball State Campus.
