March 2007 Martha Hunt transcript
Martha Hunt (Quote 1):  Well, I know the students were thrilled with the fact that they actually created a video game that works and that it was very educational and fun. So, at the end of the day they were very happy with what happened. Getting there was not easy. At the beginning of the course they didn't know each other so it took awhile to gel as a group, and it took awhile to build trust among each other to take risks in the creative process. There were times that people would be angry and times that people would be very happy. If you talked to any of them though, I think they would all agree, they're glad that they did this.

Martha Hunt (Quote 2):  If you talk to them (the students) directly they would say that that is one of the biggest things that they learned; is how to work with people from a different discipline before they graduate.

Martha Hunt (Quote 3):  Usually we don't go into an environment and take a test. The test is can you work together and produce something that is of high quality that the employer will want to see and learn how to work together even if you have trouble with them or don't agree with them. That kind of thing is a real skill. If you can walk out into the workplace with that skill you're ahead of the pack.

Martha Hunt (Quote 4):  The Virginia Ball Center selects faculty based on a project that they submit for evaluation that students can come to and learn in a team setting with a community sponsor. So, students do have the opportunity on campus to seek out those opportunities and each project is different based on the faculty expertise and interests.
