No previous dance experience required. Polka is defined as a vivacious couple dance of Bohemian origin in duple time; was a basic pattern of hop-step-close-step; a lively Bohemian dance tune in 2/4 time. It is also extremely popular with many other Americans who have succumbed to the new polka craze popularized by Lawrence Welk and other post-war bands. For years to come, the polka will remain popular, with its variance in style from robust to smooth short, glide steps and ever happy music. One of the most popular versions of the polka is the "heel and toe and away we go" due to its ease to execute. Make sure you sign up with a partner!

Conditioning CircuitWednesdays 6:00am - 7:00am
A conditioning circuit may sound like a rough way to start your day, but its actually energizing for the mind and the body and a great way to kick off your mornings. You will work with a big variety of equipment and techniques centered around improving your cardiovascular endurance, agility, strength, balance, and flexibility. In this class, we will incorporate High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), a technique that requires you to work really hard for a few seconds, followed by a short break. This technique has been found to increase the calories you burn over the next 48 hours, meaning you'll be burning more fat for the two days following your workout. It has also been found to exceed the amount of calories you burn during low intensity aerobics by up to 142%. So if you are looking for a faster, more effective way to improve your physical fitness, this class is for you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can attend?
BSU affiliates and BSU non-affiliates are capable of attending instructional classes.
Can I use a fitness pass to attend an instructional class
No, instructional and fitness classes are two separate programs.
What is the difference between fitness and instructional classes?
Instructional classes are taught by an outside source and the same class is attended for multiple weeks. Instructional classes are available for BSU non-affiliates.Fitness classes are taught by students and you only can attend the number of classes that you purchase. BSU non-affiliates are not able to attend.
What if I can no longer attend the class I registered for?
Our instructors are mostly from the Muncie community and command a higher salary and our office has to have the ability to pay all our expenses through registration fees. Therefore all participants who register will not be given a refund opportunity, unless one of the three items have been met:
1. Rec Services cancels the class completely.
2. The participant relocates and moves from the Muncie area.
3. The participant has medical documentation that states activity cannot happen.
All requests must be made to Josh Bisher, Senior Program Director via email to jrbisher@bsu.edu
