General Intramural Sports Information

For team sports, organize a team of BSU students, faculty, staff, or alumni with a valid Ball State ID or Recreation Privilege Card. If you are unsure about someone's eligibility, please call Recreation Services at 765.285.7974. Whether you are registering for a team or individual sports, you are registering and paying for the whole team.

Team Rosters

There is no limit on roster sizes,; however, an individual cannot be on more than one team in the same division of any sport. For example, you can be on a Men's division team and a Fraternity division team, but you cannot be on two Men's division teams.

Leagues: During the regular season for all league sports, rosters are open and you may add new players to your team at any time. Rosters will lock at the end of the regular season and before the playoffs. Only players that are on the official roster at the end of the regular season will be eligible to play in the playoffs.

Tournaments & Events: Rosters do not lock for tournaments or events. You may add players to your roster at any point during a tournament as long as they are only playing on one team in each division.

Payment

Registrations and all fees must be submitted prior to each sport's deadline. You may only pay by credit card through our online registrations ystem. If you wish to pay by cash or check, please stop by the Office of Recreation Services located just inside the Neely Avenue entrance.

Registration

Leagues: Recreation Services online registration allows captains to select the day and time they want to play their regular season games. The playoffs for all leagues will not be at the same time as your team's regular season games. Recreation Services will attempt to schedule playoff games at times that work for your team, but this is NOT a guarantee.

Tournaments & Events: Game times for those sports are pre-determined and captains cannot choose their own times.

Game Scheduling & Brackets

All leagues have a maximum of three regular season games per season, but there is NO guarantee of this number of games. If there are not enough teams signed up for your division at your time slot, you may be given a "BYE" week. We also might try to move your team to a different division to fill any vacant time slots and get every team as many games as possible. We will be in contact with captains about moving regular season game time slots if necessary.

Schedules & Brackets will be posted to the Recreation Services website by 4:00pm on the day after the registration deadline.
