What does Ball State Outdoor Pursuits do?

The Outdoor Pursuits Program includes a climbing wall, outdoor equipment rental and retail center, classroom, trips program and outdoor skill clinics and workshops, and an outdoor resource center. The goal of the Outdoor Pursuits program is to grow into a dynamic year-round program that runs smoothly and meets the needs of BSU students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the East Central Indiana community. Bike Program

BSU Outdoor Pursuits rents both mountain and road bikes to students, faculty/staff and residents of Muncie and surrounding communities. We offer both road and mountain bike trips to state-wide attractions that include Cardinal Greenway, Brown County, and many others.

Have a bike at Ball State and need a tune-up, fix, or some air in your tires? Bring it in to the Outdoor Pursuits office and we can help you out!

Resource Center

Do you want to go on a trip or venture out, but don't know where to go? Let us help. We have computer kiosks, maps and resource guides to assist in your trip planning. Let our expertise provide you with outlets for your excursion. We also have a variety of travel guides from surrounding states for visitors to take home with them. Check out our video library or schedule an appointment with one of our staff members to set you on a successful path for your trip.

Outdoor Pursuits Fun Facts

• The climbing wall features over 1500 sq. ft. of climbable surface for bouldering, top rope climbing, and lead climbing as well as workshops and clinics.
• The rental center can rent all the equipment you'll need to go canoeing, kayaking, camping, backpacking, fly fishing, bouldering, and many other outdoor activities.
• Enjoy the outdoors and learn new skills on adventure trips including rock climbing, backpacking, fly fishing, whitewater rafting, and skiing/snowboarding, plus others.
• The resource center offers materials such as maps, brochures, computer software, and the opportunity to seek advice from knowledgeable staff.
• The climbing wall is available for private rental for parties, teambuilding activities, and other special events.
• Outdoor Pursuits offers a variety of clinics and workshops emphasizing backcountry cooking, fly tying, fly casting, kayak roll sessions, and other outdoor technical skills.
• Did you know that Outdoor Pursuits rents a variety of yard sports including Bocce Ball, tug of war, cornhole and rents tailgate tents?
