Practicum
Our comprehensive practicum offers you opportunities to practice your trade through authentic and supervised experiences with clients in both clinical and public school environments. You will be involved in practicum experiences from very early in your program and continue until you enroll in internships.
In practicum, you will apply your knowledge of psychological theory and ethical principles to practice and have opportunities to attain competencies in such areas as:
- Observation
- Evaluating individual clients with varying educational needs
- Recommending, planning, and evaluating interventions
- Individual and group counseling, tutoring, and behavior management
- Social skills training
- Consultation with teachers, parents, and other professionals
- Evaluation and research in a variety of settings such as public schools, the School Psychology Clinic, and other clinics and agencies
