Spectrum

About

Since 1974, Spectrum has served as Ball State University's organization for gender, sexual and romantic minorities (LGBTQ+) and their allies. Spectrum is advised through the Ball State Multicultural Center.

Spectrum provides social support to create a comfortable, confidential, and accepting atmosphere for its members. Meetings are both fun and educational. Everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression is welcome to attend our meetings and events! Due to the nature of this organization, everyone is asked to respect the privacy of others.

This semester, Spectrum is meeting biweekly in the Multicultural Center Multipurpose Room from 6-7pm. We will also have other special events like Sex Ed Bingo and our annual Drag Show, which are held at different times. These extra details and other relevant communications are disseminated in our monthly email newsletter, various social platforms, and around campus. Interested in learning more? Check out our Linktree and consider joining our mailing list!

The mission of Spectrum is to educate the Ball State and Muncie communities on LGBTQ+ issues, cultures, and history through various programming efforts. Spectrum's goal is to provide an anonymous, healthy, and safe place for Ball State University students and surrounding communities who identify within the LGBTQ+ community or are allies, to help find an understanding network of support. All programs and activities sponsored by Spectrum are free for Ball State students. Consider attending one of Spectrum's great events, including:

  • Annual Drag Shows
  • National Coming Out Day
  • Sex Ed Bingo
  • Queer Open Mic
  • Transgender Day of Remembrance
