If you want to find out where the Cool Corps first started you would have
to go back it Indiana. Cool Fantasy
Corps was founded in Indianapolis, Indiana in the fall of 2000 by David
Grider where the original name was the Studio Fantasy Ensembles.
Starting out with their first performance in the world renowned Fantasy
Drum Corps International commissioned by Jeff
Butera . In their first season the top corps placed 27th and
has never placed lower. The organization also has participated in
Virtual Corps League, Fantasy, Drum Corps Association,
Native Wisper
POW-WOW Percussion Competition, and Fantasy
Marching Band Association.
After some time of being controlled by the state of Indiana, the organization finally got enough money to venture on their own without help from the state funding. This proved to be a great move to the organization since funding was limited and the help from the state and corporate sponsoring was really high in the FDC world. Since the board of directors decided to venture toward self funding, the board decided to change the name that best described the personality of the founder of the organization. And so Cool was the given name.
Since changing the name the fantasy units started to take the personality of the corps director by putting shows on the stage that no one thought was possible. Featuring some of the biggest names in jazz history and taking jazz into a level of artistry that has never been seen before.
Along with a countless number of awards in many of the competitions in all leagues this organization is out to put forth the ultimate level of performance that its' students and staff can offer.
