NEWSLINK INDIANA

NEWLINK INDIANA debuted in December 2003 as the convergence news project developed by the Center for Media Design at Ball State University. NEWSLINK INDIANA is a news service for east central Indiana, covering Grant, Blackford, Jay, Randolph, Wayne, Henry, Madison and Delaware counties. Muncie native and Ball State graduate Chris Bavender anchors.

BEST OF THE JOY OF PAINTING

From 1983-1994, WIPB produced the international sensation, THE JOY OF PAINTING, with host Bob Ross. The soft-spoken Ross taught viewers to transform a blank canvas into a beautiful landscape scene, often including “happy trees,” in less than 30 minutes. WIPB is proud to present this popular program in syndication.

CARDINAL QUIZ BOWL

Cardinal Quiz Bowl helps focus attention on the academic ability of area high school students and bring attention to what Ball State University has to offer. Each quiz bowl team has four members and two alternates. The first round of Quiz Bowl is played in January, then the finals take place in February. Students are quizzed about current events and their general knowledge of art, English literature, geography, math and science.

CONNECTIONS

CONNECTIONS is an Emmy Award-winning, student run, half-hour entertainment magazine program shown on WIPB-TV and WCRH, cable channel 43. Students have the chance to act as anchors, sportscasters, reporters, producers, cameramen, and board operators along with lighting directors, stage coordinators and much more.

COUNTRY HIT VIDEOS

COUNTRY HIT VIDEOS features the hottest country music stars and top videos of the week. During the hour-long program, viewers can vote for the videos they want to see in the monthly "Top 5 Countdown". Hosted by Bob Richards of WFMS-FM.

INDIANA OUTDOORS

INDIANA OUTDOORS originally aired in July 2001 as the output of a seminar at the Virginia B. Ball Center for Creative Inquiry. Fifteen students and Nancy Carlson, Ball State University telecommunications department chairwoman, traveled all over the state, gathering stories they thought would be interesting to WIPB viewers. Hosts Jill Ditmire, a veteran television reporter from Indianapolis, and Dr. Don Van Meter, soil scientist and associate dean of the College of Sciences and Humanities at Ball State, tie together the stories that were written, produced and edited by dozens of students.

LIVE AT THE OFF CENTER GARAGE

Local musicians perform before live audiences at Off Center Studio in Muncie, Ind. Musician Ray Boltz produces the shows that WIPB-TV airs during primetime hours. Artists featured on the program include Ray Boltz, Lawrence Chewning, Cooke and Belle, The Elms, Josh Garrels, Priscilla Engle, Cowboy Band, Jon McLaughlin, Sarah Scarbrough and Mitch McVicker.

VOICES IN MYSTERY

VOICES IN MYSTERY is a locally produced author-interview program in its sixth season as a partnership between Ball State University and Magna cum Murder Mystery Conference. Associate professor and telecommunications department chairwoman Nancy Carlson serves as interviewer to mystery authors who attend the conference each year. Voices in Mystery has recorded more than 150 interviews of the country’s best mystery and suspense authors, from Sue Grafton to Donald Westlake, from Mary Higgins Clark to Alexander McCall-Smith.

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE

Formerly called Third House, Legislative Update gives east central Indiana’s state legislative delegation a chance to discuss with constituents the actions of the General Assembly and the status of bills. Questions for the legislators are accepted from the public before and during the live broadcast via email.
