2023 Summer Commencement

Summer Commencement will be held on Saturday, July 22, at 10 a.m. in Worthen Arena. There is one ceremony that takes place in the Summer that recognizes all graduates together. Worthen Arena will open at 9:00 a.m. The ceremony will last approximately two hours.

The ceremony is not ticketed, so graduates are welcome to invite as many guests as they would like.

Graduates should enter at Lower Level Gate 1 and be in their seat by 9:45 a.m. Graduates and guests are expected to adhere to the etiquette and protocols guidelines. Summer Commencement will be livestreamed on this website on the day of the event.

If you will be traveling to Muncie via Interstate 69, please note that SR 332 off of Exit 241 will be closed. We suggest the alternate routes below.

  • Those traveling southbound from the north should get off at the U.S. 35 or SR 28 exit (Exit 245).
  • Those traveling northbound from the south should get off at the Daleville exit (Exit 234).

All Summer 2023 graduates must complete the following three steps:

Step 1: Apply to Graduate

Complete the official graduation application by the appropriate deadline. The deadlines to apply for graduation were:

  • Wednesday, May 24 (graduate students)
  • Monday, June 26 (undergraduate students)

If you are a graduate student who missed the application deadline, please contact the Graduate School at 765-285-1291. If you are an undergraduate student who missed the application deadline, please contact Upper Division Advising at 765-285-5490.

Apply to Graduate

Step 2: Register for Commencement

Complete the Commencement registration form to let us know your plan to attend Commencement. The deadline to submit this form is Monday, June 26.

Step 3: Order Your Cap and Gown

Order your cap and gown online. You will be given two shipping options. 

  • Ship to Home (additional shipping and handling fee): ordering deadline—Friday, June 23
  • Ship to Bookstore (pick-up beginning July 19): ordering deadline— Friday, June 16
