Greg Fallon

Greg Fallon

Chief Digital Marketing and Communications Officer

Room:WQ 306

Greg joined Ball State University in the Fall of 2020 after a 17-year career in journalism in Muncie. When he departed that field, he was the executive editor of The Star Press in Muncie, the Palladium-Item in Richmond, Ind., and the Journal & Courier in Lafayette, Ind. He served as the editor in Muncie for six years. Before becoming editor in Muncie, he spent time as digital editor and sports editor in that newsroom. In his time leading the three newsrooms, his work focused on storytelling, leadership, digital audience growth, website editing, social media management, metric analysis and more.

He is no stranger to Ball State. In addition to working in the Muncie community and at times covering Ball State as a reporter/editor, he is a 2004 graduate of the Journalism Department. He also taught a journalism course in 2018 and previously served on advisory committees in that department.

Greg leads the digital team in the Marketing and Communications division at the University. That group, among other things, is responsible for the University’s website, internal and external distribution of communications, social media, digital marketing and more.

In his personal life, Greg has two beautiful daughters who are immersed in dance. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Julie, who is also a Ball State graduate. He’s a proud owner of a rescued pit bull, the adoptive father of a neighborhood cat and loves riding his Harley-Davison motorcycle. He’s an avid reader and, perhaps as expected for a person in a digital leadership position, a geek for gadgets.
