Bio

Many people see computer programming as a dry and unimaginative task focused on bits and bytes. While Mark knows bits are just details, a means to the end, he hates unimaginative work. He takes programming rules and combines them with imagination to produce compelling applications and fresh, unique and useful systems that people enjoy using.

In fact, he’s won an industry award in the Microsoft Windows World Open competition for his web-based work.

Mark brings significant experience in building internal proprietary websites and web-based applications in the health care and financial fields. As a web developer and digital strategist at Ball State, he’s happy to use his talents to help a more public and wider audience learn about the university’s message.

When he’s not wrangling computers, Mark loves to experience art in museums and galleries. He’s a fine-art photographer himself, mainly working in black and white images of natural and abstract forms.

Mark lives in Redkey with his wife, Demara; teenage son, Calvin; and their dog, Yuki. When he’s not computing or creating photographs, he likes to read, build things, ride his motorcycle, write poetry, play sports, watch old black and white movies…
