Alan Finn
Vice President for Business Affairs and Treasurer
Alan Finn became Ball State University’s vice president for business affairs and treasurer in 2019.
In his role, Alan oversees the financial matters of the institution, including the budget office, and provides strong management and oversight of all activities within the Division of Business Affairs. He also works closely with legislators and trustees.
Before his arrival at Ball State, Alan was vice president for business and finance and treasurer at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon, where he had worked since 2015. He has also served at Portland (Oregon) State University and the State University of New York (SUNY), and he has held various roles in the private sector. His prior experience includes working with state budget models and incentive-based budget models, collaborating with legislators and board members, and supervising human resources.
With the implementation of the University strategic plan, Destination 2040: Our Flight Path, Business Affairs will play a key role in meeting several strategic imperatives, including those within Goal 5: Institutional and Inclusive Excellence.
Alan earned his baccalaureate in accounting from Clarkson University and his master of public administration from Rockefeller College at SUNY at Albany.
