Department of Architecture
Paul is a practicing architect and owner of Puzzello Architecture Practice, based in Indianapolis since 2011. He has been practicing architecture for the past 25 years, beginning his career in healthcare design, and co-owning Tabor/Bruce/Puzzello and Associates in Bloomington. Paul received his BArch in 1992 form Ball State University, and a MArch from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, studying under Pablo Castro and Jennifer Lee of OBRA, William E. Massie, and Peter Lynch.
Paul has held teaching positions at Indiana University Bloomington, Ball State University, Lawrence Tech in Southfield, Michigan, and at the Herron School of Art, Indianapolis. A former board president and board member for People for Urban Progress (PUP) in Indianapolis, Paul also worked in urban/public design and product development from 2011 to 2019.
Paul’s interests are rooted in the identity and interpretation of Midwestern regionalism, the post-industrial city, and the role design thinking can play relative to materials, interface, and craft. His projects have included a house for architect and educator Wes Janz and designer/artist Marcia Stone, incorporating timber framing and shipping pallets, a house in Brown County, Indiana clad with digitally fabricated wood panels, and an art gallery and event center in Bloomington, Indiana. The practice is currently working in the city of Detroit with the Liberian Association of Michigan to renovate their main community center. Paul holds architectural licensure in Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.
