The School of Art’s Intermedia emphasis allows students to explore time-based media as a highly interdisciplinary fine art practice that encompasses moving image, video, installation, performance, and sound across analog and digital media. This specialization uses time and technology to produce visual and sonic artworks that embrace both 2D and 3D approaches to art-making.
What You Will Study
The Intermedia path requires students to declare a secondary studio art concentration to establish the interdisciplinary approach that will best serve a unique developing art practice. Students work closely with Intermedia faculty to tailor a course path that allows for focus and rigor within an interdisciplinary structure. Students are encouraged to understand the relevant artistic, social, and commercial applications of their art. Students will acquire a strong technical foundation through introductory courses that will assist them in maturing as creative artists. Intermediate and advanced courses encourage the exploration of diverse techniques and critical theories.
