Our painting area offers you a chance to explore your individual vision as you develop a disciplined studio practice in watercolors, oils, temperas, acrylics, and more. You’ll practice a wide range of technical, aesthetic, and conceptual approaches related to painting. You will learn how to identify and solve pictorial problems.
Beginning painting courses will introduce the concepts and materials of painting to further your understanding of space, image, and color. Intermediate and advanced courses examine the properties and possibilities of modern media. Critiques and seminars led by faculty and visiting artists provide you with the form and structure to discuss your work in relation to contemporary art issues.
