Printmaking students learn traditional lithography, screen-printing, etching, and woodcut relief printing techniques
Printmaking students investigate a wide range of styles and methods in order to create imagery that overlaps the graphics arts, design, and all the best parts of drawing and painting.
Experimental and unusual processes, such as photographic transfers, computer printed screens and plates, even book-making and old-style letter press, are all part of a printmaking student’s experience.

Our printmaking facilities facilitate four types of printmaking: intaglio, lithography, relief, and serigraphy. Courses in these techniques of printmaking will help you understand the long, global history of this medium and give you ample opportunity to take advantage of the versatility of this creative field. You will build upon your knowledge of a variety of mark- and image-making techniques—such as drawing, painting, and photography—to create works on paper using our many presses.
You will go beyond mere technical proficiency and fully understand how to use printmaking processes effectively to express innovative, personal ideas.
