What You Will Study
The bachelor of arts (BA) degree requires 49 credits of School of Art courses from foundations through art history.

- This degree does not require an entrance portfolio.
- This degree does require a senior thesis or senior project for graduation.
- Students earning a bachelor of arts may not choose animation or visual communication as an emphasis. These options are available only to students earning a bachelor of fine arts.
- This degree program requires two years (or the equivalent) of study in one foreign language, normally courses through the 202 level.
Art students who fulfill the grade requirements at the end of their first year meet with the primary School of Art advisor to select an area of specialization. BA students are assigned an advisor within their specialization on completing 30 credits of course work. Students in the studio art program are required to meet with their advisor to declare a single area of studio emphasis.
