Letterman Building

At the Center for Information and Communication Sciences (CICS), we are proud to offer state-of-the-art facilities and laboratories for teaching, learning, research, and development.

Research and Labs

Students work in facilitiesWhen you are at the Center, you have the place and space to learn hands-on, where theory is pushed out into practice.

The research arm of the Center is the Applied Research Institute (ARI). Host to seven adjoining, dedicated laboratories, ARI offers opportunities for industry and governmental applied science, or academic research and development.

While ARI is the research umbrella organization at the Center, there are affiliated institutes that offer research learning experiences as well.

The ability to transfer theoretical knowledge to practical application is a reason that the Center’s graduates are so actively recruited. In addition to work in ARI, as a CICS graduate student, you will have the opportunity to be part of these research institutes:

  • Human Factors Institute
  • Institute of Wireless Innovation
  • CICS Internetworking Academy
  • Digital Policy Institute
  • Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute
  • Educational Technology Institute
