Meteorology and Climatology Minor

If you see yourself in front of the camera giving the world the latest weather and climate updates, this minor will be a good fit for you. Our courses will prepare you to become a weathercaster and help you successfully complete the National Weather Association Weathercaster Seal of Approval examination.

What You Will Learn

In this program, you will gain meteorological experience both inside and outside the classroom. Our approach is to employ the general principles of science in systematic investigations of earth-atmosphere systems and to teach and train you to analyze these systems on a variety of spatial and temporal scales using technology like:

  • satellites
  • radar
  • automated weather observations
  • numerical weather prediction

This program consists of 15 credits of coursework in meteorology, weather analysis, climatology, and more.
