This concentration provides foundational knowledge in writing, ethics, and editing.  Our award-winning faculty challenge you to apply these skills to tell impactful stories for publications and community partners, including our own Ball Bearings Magazine. You’ll also engage in photography, videography, design-thinking, and social media, preparing you for a career that emphasizes Innovation and entrepreneurial learning. Past projects like as Sustainability Stories Indiana and Water Quality Indiana showcase the kind of work you’ll be prepared to undertake. The rigorous coursework covers all forms of journalistic writing, such as hard news, features, travel writing, personal essays, entertainment and trend stories, opinion writing, and personality profiles. Our curriculum emphasizes empathy and self-awareness, helping you recognize bias and maintain ethical standards. It prepares you to be a critical thinker, collaborator, digital leader, and agile communications professional.

Career Paths: Graduates specializing in Writing and Multimedia Storytelling can pursue various roles, including copy editor, news anchor, reporter, multimedia storyteller, on-air personality (podcaster, radio host, YouTuber, broadcast journalist), freelance writer, feature writer, social media manager, content strategist, and more.
